HISTORY

Galleri Urbane, located in Dallas’s Design District, is a contemporary art gallery committed to the promotion of contemporary artists nationally and abroad. The gallery was founded in 2000 in Silver City, New Mexico, where exhibitions were held in the front rooms of the owners' Victorian home. Owners Ree and Jason Willaford then established Galleri Urbane in a 100-year-old adobe building in the Central Marfa Historic District (Texas) in 2002. In 2009, the Dallas location opened, where the gallery remains today. After exhibiting in Marfa for 17 years, the Willafords closed that chapter in 2019 to focus on Dallas collectors and art fairs within the US and abroad.

Since its founding, Galleri Urbane has advocated for the careers of contemporary artists (both emerging and mid-career), and now represents more than 20 artists. These artists—painters, sculptors, photographers, and mixed-media and conceptual artists—share the gallery's mission to innovate beyond existing applications and conventions. Solo and group exhibitions are unveiled every seven weeks, fueled by innovative works created by both gallery-represented and visiting artists.
